Stephanie Cerna, student from Kean University wins the President’s Volunteer Service Award for accumulating over 100 service hours


Throughout the fall 2016 semester, Stephanie Cerna has volunteered at three service events through Kean University to those who need it mostand guess what she received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for accumulating over 100 service hours.!Wow !

Cerna who is a a junior cell and molecular biology major student maintains a busy schedule, but she prioritizes her time so she can contribute to helping others. She balances her job as a part-time swimming instructor, her commute to and from school, her classes and the several clubs she is involved in. She wants to be a doctor and is involved in the Biology Club, the Pre-Medical Pre-Dental Association, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Tri-Beta National Biological Society.

Apart from studying at Kean University, Cerna loves helping people .She volunteers at Trinitas Hospital and for the American Red Cross, and with the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS). She feels volunteering experience helps us to discover skills and qualities that can change our own view of self-worth,the benefits are immense.

She mentions that her volunteering experience at Kean University has been a memorable one so far where she has met a lot of students and made friends .The students also feel that she is a giver and is very  punctual to events and consistently working her hardest by her passion for helping others.
